Zahir al-DaoudHello!

I'm awfully glad to have found this place! Zahir's the name, and I'm prepping an epic fantasy to be titled "Seasons of the SeaGriff." Part of the story involves the siege of a castle, and so off web-searching I went. Here is where I ended up!

While far from an ignoramus on this subject, I'm also a long way from being an expert. Plus my own tendency is to ground things in some measure of reality whenever possible.

So I'm very much looking forward to reading what everyone has had to say--as well as asking my own questions in a little while.

Hopefully, you won't find me too annoying.

PeterRead away Zahir,
and the jolly best of luck to you.
All questions are welcome, but'Meaningful' ones even more so.

deborahknowlesI'm a would-be writer too and always get my answers from here! Maybe we can bounce a few ideas around?

Erik SchmidtThe web is not the best place to easily find information about the technicalities of sieges.
Try a library, which should have at least a basic book on castles with information.

Use our search facility to look for old posts on the subject of sieges(there shoiuld be quite a few). It's linked at the top right of the page.

Also, you may want to look at these pages for info on siege engines; http://members.iinet.net.au/~rmine/gctrebs.html http://www.middelaldercentret.dk/
